Riotous fun in Roseleigh Manor's "Robin Hood & Marion Queen of the Forest"
By The Sheriff
VIEW PHOTOS OF MERRKYMAKING IN SHERWOOD FORREST
An audience of 70 set a course for Roseleigh Manor last Friday night, 27 June 2008, for a night of rollicking fun and entertainment with 'Marion Queen of the Forest, featuring Robin Hood & his band of insignificant others'. The show lived up to everyone’s expectations. After the runaway success of 2006' s 'Rocky Horror Tribute Show' and 2007's 'Pirates of the Overdale', the Roseleigh Manor crew have again outdone themselves in `Robin Hood’, which gave the audience a riotously good time of merrymaking as Robin Hood and his merry band of misfits battle the baddies led by the Sheriff of Nottingham in this outrageous theatre restaurant extravaganza.
A great cast including Kate Wendt (Morgana), Lindsay Whitehead (Robin Hood), Rebecca Hennessey (Maid Marion), Bret Allen Power (The Sheriff), Stuart Morgan (Wil Scarlet), Tim Stait (Little John), Jenny Neil (Alice) and Darren Wallace (Turnip) sang and danced their way through a bevy of popular songs and all-time favorites, such as Twisted Sister’s “We're not gonna take it”, ABBA's “Money Money Money” and a medley of other oldies but goodies including "Shake your groove thing" and "Twist it", and an outrageously funny story-line that had the audience rolling in the aisles. Never mind that some of the songs weren’t "Robinhoody" in the least bit! The audience - most of whom joined in the spirit of the evening by dressing up in their best Robin Hood and Maid Marion costumes - sang along with gusto anyway!
The sumptuous three-course dinner – which included mouth-watering broiled lamb shanks braised in a tangy tomato sauce and lip-smacking chocolate pudding – that was served during the evening certainly capped off one of the best entertainment nights this year.
With great choreography, songs and amazing costumes by Deb's Dance Fancy Dress Hire, this show proved to be perfect for party groups with a relaxed atmosphere and time for socializing. A bus service was even provided for those who wanted to have fun without the hassle of driving back to town.
For those who haven’t seen ‘Robin Hood’, don't miss a fantastic night of merry making in Sherwood Forrest! ‘Robin Hood’ plays for three more shows on July 25 & 26 and August 9.
