New Tumut health service manger announced
Friday 8 January 2010
Greater Southern Area Health Service (GSAHS) today announced Maria Roche has been appointed as the new Tumut Health Service Manager.
Ms Roche brings to the role vast knowledge and experience gained from her previous positions within GSAHS in leadership and management and acute health care.
"Maria's extensive understanding of rural health care and experience managing rural health services are tremendous assets that will go a long way to strengthening health service delivery in Tumut," Central Sector General Manager Jill Ludford said.
"Maria is a great example of a home-grown nurse who has been supported to advance her career for the benefit of local residents."
"Tumut and Batlow Health Services have built a strong network of clinicians and management who look forward to welcoming Maria to the team," she added.
Ms Roche grew up in Adelong and has been the site manager at Hay, Hillston and Tumbarumba Hospitals during her 18 year nursing career.
"I look forward to being part of the hard working teams in Tumut and Batlow. Taking on the Health Service Manager role is an exciting challenge. I look forward to working with staff and the greater community," Ms Roche said.
"The role is a great opportunity to support a range of services locally including surgical, maternity and preventive health services," Ms Roche added.
Ms Roche will start her new role on 27 January. The Health Service Manager is responsible for the day to day operational management of acute, primary, community and emergency care health services at Tumut and oversees the manager at Batlow.
