New physiotherapy equipment in Wagga
19th July
New equipment donated by the Wagga Wagga and District Branch of National Seniors Australia to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital’s Physiotherapy Department will
help patients with mobility and rehabilitation.
The equipment includes a height adjustable chair, a four wheel walker and two pick up frames to support people with limited mobility. Wagga Wagga Health Service (WWHS) Physiotherapist in Charge Emily Morrow said the equipment will benefit many people after surgery or living with ongoing illness.
Ms Morrow said: ”The extra equipment will allow people to be more mobile when in hospital and assist with their rehabilitation.
“The new chair is height adjustable which makes it easier to get in and out of,especially for seniors,” she added.National Seniors Australia Local Branch President Dorothy Browning said acombination of national grants and local donations made it possible to buy the newequipment.
Ms Browning said: “Wagga was given funding from the National Seniors FoundationTrust to purchase a height adjustable chair. Then we purchased the walker andwalking frames from members donations.
“I and other members have experienced treatment through the PhysiotherapyDepartment and know how this equipment can make recovery more comfortable.“The staff are very caring and it is a good way for us to support the great servicethey provide locally,” Ms Browning said.
