When it comes to health care and related social services, the people of Wagga Wagga are more than well looked after.

Thanks to more than 30 general practitioners and a group of medical specialists, Wagga Wagga is able to offer its residents accessible and personalised individual health care.
The city also boasts one public and one private hospital. The 230-bed Wagga Wagga Base Hospital is the major referral centre for the Greater Southern Area Health Service, providing a range of specialist medical and surgical services including emergency, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics. It also offers community nursing, oncology and palliative care, renal dialysis, and services for psycho-geriatric patients.
Calvary Hospital is a fully accredited 104-bed private hospital and the only private obstetric centre in rural NSW. Calvary is one of the best resourced private hospitals in Australia, and was recently ranked number one among private hospitals by members of health insurer MBF.
Calvary provides dual intensive care and coronary care units and has an excellent reputation for the quality of its patient care and range of surgical services, including orthopaedics, gynaecology, colo-rectal, ophthalmic, urology, vascular, paediatric and plastic surgery.
Wagga Wagga also has nine medical centres and an after-hours medical centre. Other medical services include the Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Regional Imaging Riverina (a comprehensive diagnostic imaging service and 24-hour on-call radiologist support), Regional Imaging Cardiovascular Centre (a fully accredited day surgery), Riverina Cardiology, Wagga Endoscopy Centre and Neuro Investigation Unit.
The city’s many community services include a range of services for aged, frail and those with disabilities, nursing homes and retirement villages, childcare facilities, community health centres and daycare centres.
