Health and Wellbeing

 

A wide range of community health services are available in Wagga Wagga, from children and youth to aged, disability and cultural specific services in both public and private settings. Over 80 medical practitioners are resident or serve the city.  Health & Wellbeing resources include Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Calvary Private Hospital, Private Day Surgery, Retirement Villages and Nursing Homes, Community Health Centres, Alternative Health Services, Daycares and Early Childhood Centres. A world class Radiotherapy Unit was opened in 2002.

Wagga Wagga Base Hospital

 

Wagga Wagga Base Hospital provides a range of specialist medical and surgical services including emergency, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics. Level 5 emergency service is available on site, with the Hospital's Regional Trauma Service capable of coordinating air transfers and assisting in disaster recovery.

Calvary Hospital Wagga Wagga

 

Since 1926 this private charitable hospital has delivered valuable health services to residents of Wagga Wagga and the Riverina. Calvary's 104 beds service patients undergoing surgical procedures, intensive and coronary care, maternity and sleep disorders. On site services include:

The Riverina Cardiovascular and Physiology Centre

 

The Centre houses state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic services including digital subtraction angiography, cardiac-catheterisation and vascular imaging services. This is the only unit of its kind in rural Australia.

Wagga Medical Imaging

 

Wagga Medical Imaging provides general radiology services, including ultrasound, Computerised Axial Tomography (CT scanning), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Bone Mineral Density (BMD) investigations.

Vision Australia

 

Vision Australia is the largest provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia, enabling more than 41,000 children and adult clients to live the lives they choose.

Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology Laboratory and Collection Centre

The Douglass Hanly Moir Laboratory caters for pathology services for inpatients and is a collection centre for the general community.

The Calvary Specialists Clinic

 

Specialist private practitioners are located on-site in the areas of Paediatrics, Orthopaedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Respiratory Specialisation, Neurology and Urology.
