Early bird incentives for high demand courses
TAFE NSW Riverina Institute is currently accepting applications for some high demand courses for Semester One, 2010.
Students can now apply for a place on some 27 of the most popular courses, including 13 Diploma and Advanced Diploma level courses and 14 Certificate level courses.
While Semester I at Riverina Institute does not start until February 2010, the 2009 early application deadline allows the Institute time to assess applicants against state-wide selection criteria and any course-specific criteria.
According to relieving Riverina Institute Director Joy Stocker, it’s the students that benefit most from the early application system.
“The early applications process provides students an opportunity to talk to Institute staff early about their study options. It means they will beat the rush and be making considered choices at a less pressured time of the year,” said Mrs Stocker
“And most importantly, because we’re dealing with courses that are so popular, and we have more people wanting to enrol than places available, students who get in early increase their chances of securing a place in the course of their choice,” she added.
“While we hope to accommodate everyone in their chosen field, the limited places and strict criteria means that occasionally applicants are not successful,” said Mrs Stocker.
But all is not lost for these students.
If students do not meet all criteria for the high demand courses, they may be able to enrol in an alternative course that is better suited or can provide the first step in the pathway toward that qualification.
Prospective students are urged to get their applications in early, before the end of October, if they wish to secure a place on any of the Institute’s most sought-after courses.
