WWCC to officially welcome Defence Force families

Wagga Wagga City Council will host an official welcome to the city for Australian Defence Force Families at 10am on Friday 6 February.
Mayor Kerry Pascoe said that more than 100 families will move to the area from mid November 2008 to late January 2009 from across Australia.

“Families relocate from Townsville, Darwin, Brisbane, Edinburgh SA, Williamstown, Melbourne Canberra and Sydney to settle in suburbs across the City,” he said.  “The presence of Australian Defence Force personnel and their families in Wagga Wagga lends a major boost to economic and social outcomes for the city making the Australian Defence Force significant to the future vision of Wagga Wagga.

“Council warmly welcomes Defence Force personnel and their families to Wagga Wagga and recognises the valuable contribution they make to the life of the community.”

An official welcome specifically for Defence Force personnel will take place on 6 February in the Council Meeting Room at 10am.  This will include a morning tea and will be followed by a bus tour of the City commencing at 11.30am.

For Defence families wishing to RSVP for the morning tea and/or bus tour please contact the Defence Community Organisation on 6931 0011.
