Local residents affected by the recent storm and flood waters after record rain fall across the region, will be able to seek help and advice at an information evening on Thursday 25 March at 7pm, at the Seniors Community Centre, Tarcutta St, Wagga Wagga.

“The Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) will be conducting an information night to help assist affected residents in the recovery process,” said Terry Dodds, Chairman Local Emergency Management Committee.

“People who have been affected by the storm and flood will be able to come along and meet with representatives from various agencies Government agencies on hand to advise them on what financial help is available to them.”

The organisations represented on the night will include:

- Industry and Investment (formerly Department Primary Industry)
- Livestock Health and Pest Authority (LHPA)
- Human Services Community Services (DoCS)
- Centrelink
- Greater Southern Area Health Service (GSAHS)
- NSW Health
- Social workers
- Wagga Wagga City Council

“It is important for people to understand that there is help available out there and this help is easily accessible to them,” he explained.

Wagga Wagga was declared a natural disaster area by Emergency Services Minister Steve Whan, on March 8.

The declaration allows residents, farmers, business and Councils affected by the flood, to seek financial assistance to help in the recovery process.
